If I was President...(the campaign begins) Voting begins... Congratulations Madam President! You promised to be kind, give and make sure everyone has enough food and a home to live in safely. Kindergarten trusts your record.
Valentine's Day is a spring board for kindergarteners to learn about letter writing, compliments, friendship skills...and "fancy manners". At our tea the gentlemen lead ladies to their seats. Ladies served our delicacies. Everyone waited until everyone was ready. Valentines were shared.
Five pages, five pages to be filled with compliments. Mrs. K might rethink this project for next year. The week before Valentine's Day every child wrote a compliment to each and everyone of their classmates. These were compiled into a single text for each student... and shared.
Mrs. K has begun assessing writing in new way. Children are now able to write to a prompt. After our study of the fairy tale "Goldilocks" kindergarten was asked to write their own version. Mrs. Kurkinen was more than impressed! When scored, children did so well Mrs. K decided to include writing prompts on a weekly basis.
Our Tree Lady, Sandi Reed, came to help us understand how necessary every tree is, and how important it is to conserve our kindergarten paper. Its a lot of work to make paper!
